Search Engine Optimization is a must to make your site a part of the internet world

Search Engine Optimization? What is it? How is it going to benefit my site?

In today’s world, more than half of the traffic that a website gets is through search engines. If you want your website to appear in one of the top positions in the results of a search engine for a particular keyword, you need to optimize your site and the entire process is referred to as “Search Engine Optimization”.

SEO is especially important for a starter website as it is one of the best way s to introduce your website to the outside world. It is again the selection of keywords that determines your position on the results. In the beginning stages, one cannot use common keywords as there are already hundreds of sites that are already indexed corresponding to that keyword.  A good way is to select phrases. For example, if your site is related to hotel booking, instead of using the keyword “hotel booking”, you can use the phrase “hotel booking in Germany”. Now you are targeting Germany’s traffic. Automatically, visitors to the other pages get increased in the process. Similarly, you need to frame keyword phrases for each page of your site and start building links.

One must understand that text inside a video or flash can no way be recognized by a search engine. If a video is being used, it can be made visible by using Meta tags. You need to tag each and every picture and video of your site to gain more visibility.

SEO is an endless process and keeps changing. Search engines are now making use of Meta tags. Initially, it was the description that played a vital role in the placement. These algorithms may be changed again at any time and one has to modify the entire site according to the new algorithms framed.

A strategic approach is the only way to make a website search engine optimized. Many companies spend hundreds of dollars for optimization but they fail in their strategy. Hence the success ratio in SEO is drastically less making SEO tougher than development!
